Watch the following video and click on fullscreen. Leave fullscreen mode. The dock is still hidden. Even after closing WebKit completely.

YouTube doesn't do true fullscreen for movies played in html5 mode, they are just resized to fill the browser window, and the dock is not hidden.
This bug report is presumably about the behavior of Flash and should be reported to Adobe.
Norman Heino
No Flash plug-in installed here. :)
This happens with the Youtube HTML5 beta player and the native player forced through YouTube5 Safari Extension [1] and is a relatively new behaviour not observed before.

To elaborate a bit:
I just tried Vimeo; same behaviour. The Dock remains hidden after fullscreen is quit. If WebKit is send to the background, the Dock reappears. WebKit back to front – Dock hides again. Forcing the Dock out by pressing ⌘-alt-D doesn't work if it was hidden by WebKit.
This behaviour is not observable in the latest Safari release (Version 5.0.2 (6533.18.5)).

This is probably a dup of 47861. The [WebVideoFullScreenController updateMenuAndDockForFullscreen] function is getting called after the full screen window closes, and due to the way the _isEndingFullscreen ivar is handled, we believe we are still in full screen mode.

I am sure, this bug has been resolved since 2010 since I haven't faced it any time since start using macOS (March 2022).
Can we mark this accordingly unless if someone believe, it is still a case where macOS dock does not restore due to Safari's fullscreen?

I just tested now and cannot reproduce either. I'm going to close it. @Norman Heino: feel free to reopen if you still see the issue.
