SVG 2 lets a textPath href point at a basic shape as well as a path (https://w3c.github.io/svgwg/svg2-draft/text.html#TextPathElementHrefAttribute). Upstream has one test for it, svg/text/reftests/textpath-shape-001.svg, and it covers only a rect with rx and a circle, in one reftest. It would be better to have subtests per shape (path control, rect, rect with rx, circle, ellipse, line, polyline, polygon). Related to the findings in Bug 328044, but not totally dependent.
