WebKit tells the embedder about the focused editable element through WebKitInputMethodContext: the input purpose and hints, where the caret is, the surrounding text, and when focus moves in and out.
However, none of it can be seen while debugging. It is not exposed to JavaScript, so a test page cannot read it, and it does not appear in any WebKit log. The only way to see it today is to write a program that installs its own input method context.
Add a --log-input-method option to MiniBrowser, for GTK and WPE, which installs such a context and prints what it receives. Add a manual test page with a field for each interesting case.
