<thetext>Summary:

When highlighting PRE-formatted text, any line of text that appears below a blank line will have a
selection area twice as high as the text itself.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Open test case attachment.
2. Highlight "Line 2".

Expected Results:

Highlighting "Line 2" should only highlight the height of the text.

Actual Results:

Highlighting "Line 2" highlights twice the height of the text.

Regression:

This also occurs in Mac OS X 10.4.3 with Safari 2.0.2 (416.13).

Notes:

- Firefox 1.5 (Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111
Firefox/1.5) does not exhibit this behavior on the same test file.
- In Firefox, user is able to select the carriage return in the blank line by click-dragging the mouse
from after the last text on "Line 1" until before the text on "Line 2". This is not possible in Safari,
although it may be a different issue.</thetext>

Ignore this comment--it's not true. I can select the carriage return by itself this way. It's only the
highlighting that is the issue.

Test case

Actually, this bug is reproducible on the text of most comments in Bugzilla.</thetext>

<thetext>Another good example of this (where the highlight is about 5x too tall) is in the Bugzilla bug mail:

http://www.opendarwin.org/pipermail/webkit-unassigned/2006-January/001427.html

Try highlighting text on this line on that web page:

> I think bug 8333 is a duplicate of this bug.

Good catch! I'm going to mark this bug a dup of bug 8333, though, since there's a lot more implementation detail in that bug than in this one.
